ATAP Names New Board President-Elect and Vice President

The Association of Talent Acquisition Professionals (ATAP) announced today that Cathy Henesey has been named ATAP board president-elect and Mike “Batman” Cohen will become vice president, both terms beginning in April 2021. Henesey will take over as president from Jim D’Amico who will serve as president-emeritus for his final year after serving as board president for two years.

Henesey is currently executive director of talent acquisition for AdventHealth. She has over 20 years in talent acquisition and sourcing experience in a variety of industries, including IT, manufacturing, and healthcare. Her expertise includes transforming teams to maximize process efficiencies using innovative sourcing strategies, funnel analytics, and workforce planning.

“I am so honored to serve as the ATAP president for 2021–2022. I have been in talent acquisition my entire career, and I have always had a passion and commitment to advance the profession into an integral part of any executive leadership team. As TA professionals, we must commit ourselves to making ATAP the kind of organization that serves as the catalyst for strategic workforce planning and developing talent plans to exceed business objectives. I will challenge our members to become actively involved in meaningful committees and network together to shape the future of our industry.”

Cohen is the founder of Wayne Technologies, a contract sourcing and recruitment training organization. His approach to sourcing is one based on deliverables, transparent data, and using multiple sources/platforms to find the greatest diversity and quality of candidates. Cohen has worked with a diverse group of clients, including Whole Foods, The New York Times, Waste Management, GIPHY, and Walter P. Moore.

“As one of the original board members of ATAP,” D’Amico says, “I have loved being a part of the growth and evolution of this vital organization that serves talent acquisition professionals around the world. Our success has been driven by our community, eight of whom serve alongside myself on the board of directors. I’ve been honored to serve as president for the last two years, and could not be more excited to turn the presidency to my successor, Cathy Hennessy. ATAP achieves more and more for our members every year, and Cathy combines keen intelligence and steadfast passion in a way that will ensure ATAP’s next two years will bring more exciting growth, community, and value for our members. Joining Cathy on the leadership team as vice president will be Mike “Batman” Cohen. Mike brings formidable knowledge, tech savvy, energy, and a disruptive (the good kind!) way of thinking that will help support Cathy and the board in our mission and success. The future of ATAP could not be in better hands!”
