ATAP Releases First Standard for Sourcing Metrics

GAITHERSBURG, MD (September 25, 2018) – The Association of Talent Acquisition Professionals (ATAP) released its first measurement standard at the Fall 2018 SourceCon conference today. The set of four metrics for measuring Sourcing was developed by an ATAP committee and will be recognized going forward as the standard for measuring sourcing functions and individual sourcing professionals across the Talent Acquisition profession.

The Committee used well defined criteria and multiple validation points including conference debates and surveys to develop the standard metrics that sourcing functions, professionals, and related vendors will be encouraged to adopt moving forward. The four metrics selected are:

  •      Submittal to Business Acceptance
  •      Time to Submit
  •      Pipeline Conversion
  •      Sourcing Satisfaction Score

According to Committee Lead Nicole Dessain, “there is little consensus to date around standard definitions, frameworks, roles, processes, and fair measurements of the sourcing function. I am very proud of the work the committee has done to get this initial standard in the hands of practitioners so collectively we can iterate on it”. ATAP Executive Director Ben Gotkin added “we are excited to launch this first formal standard, which as a part of ATAP’s mission is the start of our journey to define and measure the Talent Acquisition profession.”

A whitepaper describing the standard in detail will be available to ATAP members on the ATAP website (https://atapglobal.org) starting on September 27, 2018. The whitepaper also includes a standard definition for sourcing, a description of the validation process, detailed guidelines on how to calculate and implement each metric, a list of sourcing metrics for future consideration, and recommendations for how to address common barriers to sourcing metrics success.

The initial version of this standard will be open to ongoing questions and comments as the standard transition into a curation phase. Questions and comments will be considered for future iterations of the standard, and can be submitted through ATAP’s members-only Facebook group or by sending an email to contact@atapglobal.org.
