New Association Established to Advance the Talent Acquisition Profession – ATAP

Washington, D.C. – The Association of Talent Acquisition Professionals (ATAP) has announced their official launch, following its approval as a 501 (c) 6 nonprofit organization. This new, global professional body for Talent Acquisition Professionals was first conceived in 2012 and informally launched in the Fall of 2016. ATAP will pursue its mission to advance the profession by being an inclusive, transparent and action-oriented organization, and focusing in three primary areas:

  1. Building a Body of Knowledge (BoK), from which educational, measurement and ethical standards are defined.
  2. Advocating on behalf of the profession, representing the interests of the profession globally with legal/regulatory bodies, media and business leaders.
  3. Cultivating community by connecting existing local and niche groups, establishing new local groups, and developing new, innovative virtual platforms for learning and networking.

Since ATAP’s inception in 2016, over 250 people have already become members, including over 65 charter members. EY, Gwinnett Medical Center and Celanese have signed on as the first Corporate Group Members. In addition, Checkster and Greenhouse have become the Association’s first Sponsors.

“Over the past two years I have spoken with hundreds of Talent Acquisition Professionals, and have heard repeatedly that they believe that the time for this type of organization has come and that they want to be actively involved with our work going forward” Ben Gotkin, Executive Director of ATAP said. “This has been highly encouraging and a great validation of our efforts to launch ATAP in the first place.” ATAP Board President and Founder. He added, “The increased complexity and impact of the talent acquisition function needs, and demands, higher standards of practice. We believe ATAP is the answer.”

As a member-driven organization, ATAP is actively seeking the input of current and prospective members on the future strategy and priorities of the Association. The profession has evolved significantly over the past 20 years. ATAP is here to take the profession further, by defining what Talent Acquisition professionals do, what success looks like, how to measure that success, how to operate in the best interests of our key stakeholders (hiring organizations and candidates), what practical policies serve the best interests of our professionals, and by connecting all Talent Acquisition Professionals on a global scale.
